She started selling piercings, but realized nobody at the market was carrying for the alternative community. So she filled the gap. Today she’s an officially licensed Sullen seller, and also carries brands like ROMWE, Friends, Visio, Tokidoki, and Betty Boop. She also makes her own custom keychains, and her next move is customizing clothes. Her father-in-law taught her how to make piñatas, and from there she never stopped. Today, with her husband, her kids, and even her mom backing her up, she runs a business across 8th East, Broadway, and 3rd West. Mandiles, authentic lavaderos, real Mexican artesanías. When a new vendor comes through and needs supplies, he’s there too. As Vendor Board Manager, Sonny works closely with all the other vendors to communicate and help them out. To him, every vendor is family. His shop is the kind of place where you walk in for a receipt book and walk out with snacks, beauty supplies, and a few minutes of good conversation. Pony rides for the kids, photos with Jurre (the black horse who steals every weekend), and a story behind every brushstroke. Oscar isn’t just running a booth. He’s raising these animals.
